25 Years of French Artisanal Excellence Specializing in high-end furniture design and interior design, Ateliers ARKAL collaborates with architects and interior designers on residential and commercial projects around the world. Renowned for its expertise in cabinetmaking combined with a constant pursuit of innovation, the company is celebrating its 25th anniversary today. Founded in 2001, Ateliers ARKAL is based in La Flèche in the Sarthe department. The workshops have always been dedicated to woodworking with an artisanal focus. From the very beginning, this approach has enabled the company to tackle a wide variety of projects with great agility while maintaining end-to-end control over production: display cases for large retailers, commercial spaces, and projects in collaboration with Chantiers de l’Atlantique, among others. In 2004, eager to take on new challenges, Ateliers ARKAL decided to establish a design office to provide customized support to architects and interior designers. The design and manufacture of furniture for the luxury sector flourished, as did the company’s international expansion through the fit-out of high-end boutiques—notably in London—as well as prestigious private interiors in the United States. When Stéphanie Bouisset, an engineer with a degree from Arts et Métiers, joined the company in January 2016, she helped drive the transformation of Ateliers ARKAL. The daughter of a carpenter and installer, “raised in the culture of wood,” she is passionate about fine craftsmanship and its aesthetic dimensions. Thus, thanks to the synergy of in-house trades, the workshops in the Sarthe region offer a rare service—from personalized feasibility studies through design and manufacturing to final on-site installation. To solidify this expertise, Ateliers ARKAL became a registered trademark in 2024. While embracing a resolutely contemporary approach, the company preserves its artisanal expertise in cabinetmaking. Each project—whether it takes the form of a private interior, a corporate headquarters, or a more unconventional space—invites us to push the boundaries of this art form, offering a unique and memorable experience.
